Who We Are
Coming up as a jazz multi-instrumentalist in Cincinnati, Ohio, Steve Seifried fell in love with the sound and function of good cymbals, both from his own collection and those of the professional drummers he was playing with. He was taken by the enormous range of sounds possible and the different musical functions those sounds could facilitate, as well as the beauty of hitting a complex jazz ride and listening to the sonic landscape of shimmers, ripples, sparkles, and roars as it decayed.
Also, through working with many schools, he became frustrated by the entry level cymbals that are typically available for students. He saw too many students trying to learn to play the drum set with cymbals that didn’t function correctly for the music they were trying to play, especially for jazz, and weren’t able to learn to play effectively.
Now, he’s making his own cymbals to address these two areas: 1) Making high end custom cymbals from Turkish blanks for professionals with discerning ears, and 2) Transforming entry-level cymbals into something that professionals would be thrilled to recommend to their students or play themselves, while at a price point that the students and their families are willing to pay.
